So you want to learn how to play the guitar...
For me, music is where it all started. I've been playing since I was old enough to hold an accordion, classically trained at the Ecole Vincent D'Indy School of Music in Montreal, formally brow-beaten at the University of Western Ontario (B.Music - Theory and Composition) with graduate work in the bars, clubs, charity events and yard parties of Toronto.
You'll find me regularly playing guitar and mandolin with The Hand Me Downs bluegrass band. We're a traditional bluegrass band that also plays covers of pop, rock and western swing music, and are available for parties, charity events, festivals and clubs. Click here for some demos.
I provide steel-string guitar lessons (beginners and intermediate) and mandolin lessons (beginners) to young people (10 years of age or older) and adults. I teach folk/bluegrass/rock/pop styles of playing with an emphasis on practical performance and basic understanding of theory and general musical knowledge. Note: I do not teach classical guitar and I do not follow Ontario Conservatory methodology. My lessons are intended to foster life-long love of the instrument and music.
Lesson's start at $40.00 per half-hour and can be at your place or mine. Learning materials are provided. I am also happy to assist with choosing a first instrument (which can be a daunting task). I am located in Thornhill Woods.
